Apply to Be a Bridge Forward Participant

Who Should Apply

Bridge Forward was founded to help individuals and families make progress on their economic mobility journeys. Our support is for individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, those affected by the cliff effect, low and moderate income earners who would like to save and don’t qualify for financial assistance programs, and who would like to prepare for their future and build assets.

If you would like to improve your financial situation long-term and interested in support, you’re welcome to apply.

For this year, we’re accepting applications from Massachusetts residents who are 18 years and older with incomes below or around $80,000. Other factors will be taken into consider such as caretaker responsibilities and dependents you may have.

If you have questions about our criteria please contact us.

We aim to make the application process as seamless and respectful as possible. The application asks for demographic information, the nature of your financial need, supporting documents, and your plan for using the requested support. Not all questions are mandatory. Please provide the maximum amount of information you can. Disclosing information about your employment and assets will not hurt your application, but simply helps us form a more complete understanding of your situation.

The Process

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of participant does Bridge Forward Fund support?

We support individuals and families who are interested in building financial security, saving, lowering debt, those experiencing financial hardship who are having a hard time achieving their financial goals and building assets. We support participants who may not have family or other support to cover emergencies, and basic needs.

How long does the application and financial support process take?

After we receive your application, it takes about a week to review it. We then set up a video call to go over your application with you within a couple of days. After the review call, we work together to pay vendors like utility companies, debt collectors, landlords, educational institutions, etc. This process can take another week or more, depending on how easy or hard it is to get payments to vendors. Depending on the circumstance and if it does not compromise financial statuses, we can also give direct cash support.

How often can participants receive financial support?

Participants are eligible for financial support once a year, for multiple years. When we have our review call, we aim to get a full picture of your needs for the year.

How else does Bridge Forward support participants?

During the year, you can also participate in Economic Prosperity Coaching & workshops, this is our financial literacy programming. Additionally, you can reach out to our team when you encounter challenges, we will leverage our relationships and partnerships to help you navigate these challenges and are with you every step of the way.
